Welcome to my Website.
My Name is Matthew Taylor and I have enjoyed music my entire life. I started with piano lessons as a young child and added guitar as a teenager and voice as a university student. And then, I pursued advanced degrees and had a career that had nothing to do with music. It wasn’t until my forties when I realized just how much I missed music and dove back in with guitar. As I gained skill on the instrument, I incorporated composition into my practice routine. The next thing I new I had a growing catalogue of pieces and I wanted to share them with whatever audience would listen.
My recent compositions include pieces for guitar solos, duets, and even string ensembles, but I have written, and continue to write mostly for guitar and cello. A great combination. My guiding principles include writing pieces that are fun to play. Whether they are easy or difficult, I think all my pieces are a blast to play.
